The multimodal platform
that reveals what people really feel

Run studies combining cerebral and physiological data to uncover in real time the reactions and preferences.

Why Biosignals?

What surveys miss, EMOS reveals

Self-reported data captures what people say they feel. Biosignal data captures what they actually feel, with millisecond precision.

The Platform

How it works

Everything a study needs lives in one web app, from start to finish, in five steps.

  1. The phase-template editor open on a four-phase olfaction protocol, with a scale question and its low and high labels. 1Plan

Design the protocol once, reuse it everywhere

A study protocol defines what participants do, step by step: from testing products and answering questions to timers and breaks. Save it as a template and the next study starts from it.

  2. The participant base: 69 people across the account with their age, gender, country, consent and profile tags — trained nose, high responder, calm baseline — above filters for gender, age and country, and buttons to import a CSV or add someone. 2Recruit

All your participants in one place

Build your participant pool from scratch or import a CSV. Keep everyone organized and ready for your studies, with easy filtering by profile and quick access to consent and study history.

  3. The session dashboard with the phase widget in its large mode: phase active, Baseline, fifty-three seconds remaining. 3Collect

Analyzing emotion has never been this simple

One screen tells the user what to do next. They tap, the phase runs, the recording takes care of itself and the participant only needs to wear the headset.

  4. The data explorer showing a session's phase ribbon above its Valence × Arousal section: the circumplex on the left, the valence and arousal curves over time on the right. 4Explore

See emotions moment by moment, not just as an average

View the raw biosignals, the key measures and the detected emotions side by side on one timeline, and add your own notes.

  5. A report page showing the study takeaways written out: the preferred product is Brise Marine with the strongest emotional response and 88 per cent of participants responding positively, the key discovery moment is the first smell, the most receptive segment is men under 30, and the peak valence moment is Brise Marine during the first smell. 5Report

    A ready-to-share report

The report turns your recordings into clear takeaways: the preferred product, the strongest moment, the most receptive audience, etc. Choose the level of detail and share it as a public link, slides or PDF.

One platform for three types of studies

Product

Measure how people react to a physical product as they hold, touch or use it. Compare products and identify what drives the strongest response.

Media

Understand how people react throughout a video, an audio or a social media content. See which elements capture attention and create a strong response.

Website

See how people respond as they navigate through a website. Identify the moments that engage, confuse or frustrate them.

Where EMOS is used

Packaging

See what catches attention at first glance and what makes people want to pick your product up.

Pinpoint the moments that capture attention and make your brand message truly stick.

Product discovery

Understand what makes people choose one physical product over another and what drives that preference.

E-commerce

Identify where the online journey creates friction, hesitation and which steps feel effortless.

R&D studies

Compare formulations or ingredients on response rather than on a rating scale.

Neuro-architecture

Measure how a space actually feels to be in and design environments that feel right.

What EMOS reveals

Not just a mood score, but clear answers your clients can act on: which product stands out, by how much and how consistently.

The report's dashboard: Brise Marine comes first of three fragrances on an emotion of relaxation, ahead of Bois Clair, with 88 per cent of its 68 testers feeling a positive emotion and the most consistent response of the three at 94 per cent.
Brise Marine wins — 21% more pleasure than the other two, on an emotion of relaxation, and it is the one the 68-person panel agreed on most (94%). Bois Clair leaves people neutral; Eau Dorée divides them.
Example study: three fragrances tested by 68 participants.

Our models

Three measures behind every study

Biosignals on their own are only waveforms, our models turn them into three plain measures you can act on.

Move across the map

Emotion

How did it make them feel?

Places each moment on two axes — how pleasant it felt, and how activating it was. It is the pair every report and every emotion map is built on, followed continuously rather than asked about once it is over.

Drag along the timeline

Attention

Were they really with it?

How much of the person is genuinely on the task in front of them. The one to read for anything that has to earn a gaze and then keep it — an ad, a shelf, a pack, a scene.

Move across the steps

Cognitive load

How hard did they have to work?

What the task is costing them mentally. Effort nobody thinks to mention in an interview shows up here — on a checkout, a form, or any interface people have to work their way through.

One model is included with the platform. Add the others as your questions need them — see pricing.

No black box

Every step is yours to inspect

Nothing hiding between the sensors and the metrics.

  1. 01

    Raw signals

Every signal collected, downloadable in an open format and yours to explore.

  2. 02

    Features

Every transformation applied to those signals, recorded and open to inspect.

  3. 03

    Inference

Every step from signal features to final measures, fully documented.

  4. 04

    Method

Every model’s architecture, training data and benchmarks, openly published.

Data & Compliance

Your data, your control

Mentalista is built with privacy by design. Biosignal data is sensitive and we treat it with the highest standards of security and transparency.

On-device encryption

All biosignal data is encrypted at the sensor level using Arm TrustZone CryptoCell-312 with 128-bit AES before any transmission occurs.

GDPR compliant

Full compliance with the European General Data Protection Regulation. Data processing agreements, consent management and right-to-deletion are built in.

Private deployment

Choose private deployment to keep all data processing within your own infrastructure. Your data stays on your network and never leaves your environment.

Anonymization

Participant data is pseudonymized by default. No personal identifiers are stored alongside biosignal recordings unless explicitly configured.

Ethics-first design

Our platform includes informed consent workflows, session-level data retention controls and full audit trails for regulatory review.

Data ownership

You own your data. Recordings are never sold or shared with third parties.

FAQ

Common questions

Can I start with a single headset?

Yes. One Clip and the platform are all you need to get started. Each Clip is €1,100 as a one-time purchase, and the platform is billed monthly per device. Add a second Clip when you need to run more sessions in parallel. If you’re working with larger panels or need multiple Clips, get in touch and we can provide volume pricing.

What does the platform subscription include?

The full studies platform (protocols, participants, live sessions, data exploration and reports) plus one API of your choice. It's €195 per headset per month billed annually, or €245 monthly with no commitment. Extra APIs, SDK access and Data privacy are optional add-ons. Headsets are a separate one-time purchase.

How many participants does a study need?

It depends on your study design and on how small a difference you want to detect. As a rough guide, a pilot to test your protocol needs 5 to 10 people, and a study comparing products usually needs a few dozen. If you also want to compare groups, such as age or gender, each group needs enough participants of its own. The report shows how consistent the response was across the panel and whether the differences are statistically significant, so you know how much weight each result can carry. Our data science team can also help you size your study before you start.

What do participants actually have to do?

Wear the Clip and follow what you configured on the screen. Your protocol decides whether they also answer questions — a rating, a few words, a choice — and those answers land on the same timeline as the biosignals, which is how the two can be compared. Nothing is asked of them that your protocol did not put there, and no training is needed.

How long does setup take?

Under 2 minutes. Pair over Bluetooth, run the automatic impedance check and start streaming. There is nothing to install, EMOS is a web app.

Is the Clip comfortable enough for a long session?

It is worn for a sitting the way a headband is: no gel, no pressure points and light enough to leave users undisturbed. The battery covers 8 hours of streaming, so the wearer is the limit, not the device. For fixed installations the module can be moved into your own headwear.

What data formats can I export?

Recordings export as MCAP — one open, synchronized file per session carrying the raw sensors, the extracted features, the predictions, the phases and the flags on a single timeline. Participants and question answers export as CSV, and the whole account as a ZIP backup.
